I have painted pastures around East TN many times in a realistic manner and decided to give it a try in a more impressionistic style. I used a bold brush (3 inch hake) to create the sky and ground structures. I used a straw to blow little rivers of paint in various directions to create the effect of shadows on the irregular snow in the fields. I used a razor blade to scrape away color to create the buildings in the background, as used pieces of mat board to stamp the fence posts.
